Live Roulette Strategy

There are many different roulette strategies that have been formulated over the years, some dating back to the 1700s. None of them are guaranteed to work, but if you apply them intelligently they can be used to increase the odds of winning and of course reduce your losses.

The Martingale System – Most Popular!

This is the most widely used roulette system, in which you double your bet after each loss. The idea is that your next win will cover all previous losses and give you a little extra on top. The main problem with this system is that most tables have upper betting limits, and if you have a bad run of luck, you will run out of money very quickly with this method.

D’Alembert System

This system works by changing your bet whether you win or lose, when you win you lower your bet by one unit and when you lose you raise your bet by one unit. For example if your ‘unit’ is £1, then if you lose you add £1 and if you win you drop £1. Keep a limit that you don’t drop below otherwise you’ll start betting nothing but otherwise this method will always win you back your losses, provided you don’t have a losing streak!

Dozens & Columns

This is another system where you start betting more if you lose, however you specifically bet on either Dozens or Columns (or both). These two categories have better chances of winning than inside bets, but also pay-out more than most other outside bets. The idea is you wait for either a column or dozen to not appear for a while and then bet on it, or you could double your bet each time you lose. This system only works in short bursts however, so don’t rely on it for too long.

The Fibonacci System

This is similar to the Martingale, except that it uses the Fibonacci sequence rather than a straight doubling pattern. The Fibonacci sequence is one in which the two previous numbers in the sequence are added to make the next number. This is a little less risky than the Martingale, but is less effective at covering previous losses.

Guetting System

The Guetting system asks you to raise your bet each time you win, this system works on four levels and has you bet each number of units on each level twice. Level 1 = 2, level 2 = 3, 4 and 6, level 3 = 8, 12 and 16 and finally level 4 = 20, 30 and 40. Each time you win you move up a number (provided you’ve bet on each number twice, so 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 6, 6, 8 etc.) but when you lose you move back to the first number of the previous level. This helps you win big whilst cutting your losses.

Hollandish System

This system requires a little bit more thought from the player. You start with a pre-determined unit (however much you want a unit to be depending on how much you have to bet) and bet 1 unit until you win, when you win you raise your bet to however many units you think are necessary to win back your losses, if you keep losing then you up the bet. This requires the player to think freely and do what they think is right, but it can help you win and prevent all losses.

The Labouchere System

This is another progression betting system, where the player starts with a line of numbers. The numbers at either end of the line are added together to decide the size of the next bet. After a win, the numbers at either end are crossed out, and the player continues with the smaller line. After a loss, the previous bet amount is added to the line. This is a lot more flexible than the Martingale or Fibonacci system, allowing the player to tailor the initial numbers based on the individual’s attitude to risk.

Law of Third System

This system requires you to pay attention to the previous winning numbers, the idea is that you bet on either columns or dozens based on these previous winners. If one number repeats in certain groups, it’s best to bet on the other two groups, if two numbers come up that are in different groups then it’s best to bet on the same two. The problem with this system is that the wheel doesn’t remember its own history so the odds of the ball landing on a number are the same every time the wheel is spun, however apart from that the system is fairly safe to use.

Lucky Number System

This is a system to use only when you have the money to cover it and you aren’t nervous about betting. All you have to do is pick one number and keep betting on it, if you lose then you keep adding your original bet on top of what you’re currently betting ( so 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.). Eventually you’ll be placing large bets which means a large pay-out, however it could take a while for the ball to land in the pocket you want.

Oscars Grind System

This system requires you to decide how much your unit will be (£1, £5, £10, it’s up to you), you then bet one unit on an even bet (odd/even, high/low etc.). If you lose, then keep betting one unit, when you win you add an extra unit to your current bet. This system also says the player should stop when they have more money than they started with and try again later. This way you won’t make too much of a loss and win it back quickly.

Parlay System

This is a fairly simple system, all you do is add the bet you made on the previous round on top of the winnings from the previous round, if you lose then start with your original bet again. You should also be betting on even bets and stop playing or start again once you’re in a profit. This system only works for short term plays but it can still earn you a lot of money.

Paroli System

Often referred to as the ‘reverse-martingale’, this is a positive progression system which asks you to bet more when you win. If your previous bet won, then double it, keep doing this over and over until you want to take your winnings. If you lose then just keep betting the same, this system minimalizes your losses but increases the winnings you can take.

Pluscoup System

This is another positive progression system, when you win you double your bet and when you lose you place your original bet. They way that this system differs is that it stops you from betting all your winnings. When you’ve won more than you started with you also return to your original bet, regardless of the fact that you just won. This way you lock in your winnings and can’t lose them by trying to win big.

Red and Black System

Decide what your original bet is going to be (so for this example we’ll say £10) and then bet on either red or black. If you win then keep placing your original bet, but if you lose twice in a row then add your original bet on top of your current bet (so it’ll now be £20). Every time you lose twice from here, add your original bet on top of what your current bet is (so 10, 20, 30 etc.) but when you win twice, lower your bet by the original bet (30, 20, 10). This system allows you to account for your loses and have an opportunity to safely win a lot of money.

Whittacker System

This works a lot like the ‘Labouchere System’, but with one key difference. If you win then just keep betting the same amount (1 unit), but if you lose twice then add the amount of units you’ve lost from the last two rounds together (so 1+1=2, 1+2 = 3, 2+3=5 etc.). Carry this on until you win, when you do win your losses will return, but don’t reset your units! Instead, ignore the last two bets (so if you were on 8, ignore the 8 and the 5 and go back 3) and carry on from there. This way if you have a winning streak you can safely earn money and if you’re on a losing streak you can carry on until you have your money back.

As always, you should ensure that you fully understand systems before trying to implement them.
